On Thursday, December 3, 2020, from 08.30 WIB to 12.00 WIB the Information Systems D3 study program conducted a public lecture entitled “Knowing Methods and Tools in UX Testing”. The speakers at the industry lecture were Mrs. Anggita Prameswara Putri BA, MM as the Design Manager at Lion Parcel (Lion Group) and presented by Ms. Suryatiningsih, S.T., M.T., OCA as moderator.
Anggita Prameswara Putri BA, MM explained that User Testing is a test of the feasibility of a product for the user. The general result of a user test is the user persona of our target user segment. The purpose of User Testing is to validate product demand and its benefits, namely to provide earlier test results before production and narrow down the user segment.
The User Testing method is divided into two types, namely Qualitative, which is looking at the quality or content of the results of the User Testing (Focus Group, Interviews, Observation, and User Diaries) and Quantitative, which is calculating how many people use, more focused on numbers (A / B Testing, Card Sorting, Eye Tracking, and Surveys).
Unlike User Testing, Usability Testing is a process of observing system usage to find technical problems or the usefulness of the product, therefore Usability Testing is the next step of User Testing. The purpose of carrying out Usability Testing is to find out whether the product that is designed, can, or is easily used by users and the benefits of Usability Testing, which is to analyze and make improvements or solutions to solve a problem.
There are four kinds of techniques in performing Usability Testing, namely Traditional (carried out with a longer, clear plan and meeting the user directly or offline), Moderated (meeting users can be done online), Unmoderated (doing certain tools that can record traces user) and Guerrilla Testing (doing all previous planning offline and without contacting prospective users).
It is hoped that the industry lecture material delivered by Mrs. Anggita Prameswara Putri BA, MM as the Design Manager at Lion Parcel (Lion Group) can provide more benefits and understanding for all lecturers and students of Telkom University Information System D3.
